Clinical Observation on Bladder Tumor

Abstract
Fifty four cases of bladder tumor admitted to the Department of Urology, Yonsei University Hospital during the period from 1960 to Aug. 1970 and the following results were obtained. 1. The incidence of tumor of the bladder is 3. 1%, to total number of inpatient. 2. Age distribution is between 2 1/2 and 76 years, showing the highest incidence in 60 to 69 years (31. 3%), and sex ratio of male and female is about 4 to 1. 3. Following symptoms can be found in patients; Hematuria as 84.3%, Frequency as 35.2%, Dysuria as 31.3%, and other symptoms. 4. The tumors were located in lateral and posterior wall of bladder (56. 8%) chiefly, and Multiple cases were more than Solitary cases. 5. The incidence of preoperative complications showed following results; Anemia in 35.2% of all patients, metastasis in 7 cases (13. 7%)-2 cases in rectum, one case individually in lumbar spine, lung, iliac lymph node and hilar lymph node. 6. There were 49 cases of epidermal origin, and 2 cases of mesodermal origin, and otherwise, distribution of pathological type showed 55. 1% in infiltrative type and 44.9% in non-infiltrative type, in reference to invasive degree. 7. Forty cases were treated surgically and the others by palliative measures.
